Location:

San Jose, California

Project Scope:

New Construction, Major Renovation, Landscape Architecture, Historic Landmark Preservation, New Chapel, Contemplative/ Meditative Space, Lighting Design

The new Chapel is conceived as a quiet, contemplative, reflective space that allows opportunities for meditation from the day-to-day stress/ everyday problems one may face in their daily lives. To achieve this end, the new Chapel is oriented to have clear visual connection with Our Lady of LaVang statue at the existing “circular” pavilion out in the distance with landscaped elements to set the scene for reflecting and contemplating. The Chapel attempts to integrate both the Vietnamese culture/diaspora with the liturgical symbols to enhance a special space in the heart of downtown San Jose.
