Location:

San Lorenzo, California

The Barker House is an extensive interior renovation, extension, and a new patio structure project that transformed a bungalow-style house in San Lorenzo, California into an airy, modern living space full of light. The selective removal of old interior walls opened a roomy corridor that spans from the entrance to the reinvigorated patio and backyard area. The patio cover clad in hand-wrapped copper is an iconic threshold from the backyard space into the living space. Inside, a 16-foot free-standing copper wall curves along the boundaries of the private bedrooms and public areas, acting as a buffer.

Featured in the SF Gate in an article by James Nestor, the Barker Residence was described as a “museum-like addition that adds glamour to an otherwise nondescript neighborhood.”
