Big Mug Coffee Roaster is a 3,000 SF cafe located in a 95,000 SF shopping strip in Santa Clara. The project involved the conversion of an existing retail space into a cafe. As a new coffee destination in Santa Clara, California, this project set out to put an American twist on the boutique cafe that are common in South Korea. To create a relaxing ambience over the cafe, a stark black ceiling was installed. A back wall folds into the ceiling plane over the kitchen and counter to mark the cafe counter and open kitchen area.
